First edition. With the vanishingly scarce original unclipped dust wrapper. Intended for the general reader with an interest in herbs, this work provides reliable information on individual herbs and their uses, particularly regarding their medicinal factors. Including a brief account of the history of herbalism and the rapid growth of knowledge in contemporary times. Written by Hilda Leyel, who wrote under the name Mrs. C. F. Leyel, an expert on herbalism and founder of the Society of Herbalists in England in 1927, as well as a chain of herbalist stores called the Culpeper House herb shops.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is sound with light wear and chipping to the extremities. Light loss to the head and tail of the spine, with a small tear to the centre of the spine. Light spotting to the rear panel and internal side with sunning to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting and minor age toning to the extremities. Previous owner's bookplate to the front endpaper with the bookseller's label to the rear pastedown.
