    The first edition of this work. In the original unclipped dust wrapper.

    Illustrated with a folding map to the rear, fifteen monochrome plates and four full page plans. Collated complete.

    A historical work that first explores the relationship between religion and the founding of Goa, with the story of the attempted conversion of the East to Christianity. Collis then discusses the 'Land of the Great Image', Arakan.

    Condition

    In the original cloth binding. In the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart with shelf wear and light handling marks to the boards. Dust wrapper has wear to the edges and hinges. With chipping and small closed tears to the spine head and tail. Marks to the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages have the odd spot, otherwise bright and clean.
