Produced and printed for official purposes during the war 1939/1945, with a label stating so to the edition page. 

The British Naval Intelligence Division's 'Geographical Handbook Series' was produced during the Second World War to provide useful information for the Allied war efforts. Altogether it was comprised of thirty one titles in fifty eight volumes, being the largest single body of geographical writing ever published. 

This particular volume surrounds the countries of Palestine and Transjordan, covering topics including relief, coasts, climate, history, population, physical geography and more. 

Richly illustrated throughout with one folding map held in a rear pocket, 61 additional maps, a frontispice and 153 additional illustrations. Collated, complete.
