In total, this work consists of twelve tipped-in coloured reproductions of art from The Grandes Heures de Rohan or the Rohan Hours, a 15th-century illuminated manuscript book of hours painted anonymously by an artist known as the Rohan Master.
Disbound, with the text and illustrations presented in card covers with the original dust wrapper, unpriced. With the original glassine.
Collated, complete with nine plates, two in-text and one to the front cover of the dust wrapper.
With text regarding the book's history by Jean Porcher, a French librarian, historian and library curator.
Published by the eponymous house of Albert Skira, a Swiss art dealer.
From the library of Eric Sweet, a keen collector of private press and fables. He studied at the Brighton College of Art, before moving to London to work as a lettering artist and typographer for advertising agencies, later becoming the head of Birmingham School of Printing.
Condition
A disbound card folder containing the text and twelve coloured prints (nine plates), with the original dust wrapper, unpriced. With the original glassine intact. Externally, excellent, with minor shelf wear. Ownership bookplate of one Eric Sweet to the front pastedown of the card folder. Dust wrapper is very smart, with minor spots to the rear and edge wear, most notable to the spine head and tail. Internally, disbound, with bright and clean pages.
