Description

The first Canadian edition.

First published in the UK in 1940.

Scarce to see with the original, unclipped dust wrapper.

Written by William Earl Johns, an English First World War pilot and writer of adventure stories, who wrote under the pen name Capt. W. E. Johns. He is best known for creating the fictional air-adventurer Biggles.

Set at the outbreak of the Second World War, this Biggles adventure shows the hero sent to a secret base for a special detached duty, leading his squadron in their mission to capture the German Naval Code.

Illustrated with six striking monochrome sketches by Howard Leigh and Alfred Sindall. Collated, complete.

Condition

Bound in the publisher's cloth with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with light bumping to the spine and the odd mark to cloth. Dust wrapper is very smart, with light edge wear and the odd tear. The odd mark or spot to wraps. Internally, firmly bound with bright, clean pages.
