First edition. Second state with correction to page 112. With the original price-clipped dust wrapper. The story of the military occupation of a small town in Northern Europe by the army of an unnamed nation at war with Great Britain and Russia, similar to the occupation of Norway by German forces during the Second World War. Written by John Ernst Steinbeck, an American writer who was awarded the 1962 Nobel Prize in Literature.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities. Original price-clipped dust wrapper is smart with light wear and minor chipping to the extremities. Light sunning to the spine with a 1" closed tear to the front panel. Small ink marks to the rear panel. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown.
