First edition, first impression. Very scarce.

With the equally very scarce original dust wrapper, clipped. 

During a night exercise for the Wealdhurst Home Guard, a widely detested Group Commander, Colonel Chalgrove, disappears under mysterious circumstances.

A pleasing copy of this stand-alone detective novel written under the pen name of British writer Cecil Street, best known for his long-running Lancelot Priestley series.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. With the original clipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with only mild shelf wear. Dust wrapper is smart, with marks to the rear panel and minor edge wear. Internally, firmly bound. With very minor offsetting and one or two spots to the endpapers, otherwise bright and clean.
