First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce

Robison held several major commands during World War I, and from 1928-1931 served as Superintendent of the United States Naval Academy. After retiring, Robison also founded a Naval Preparatory Academy in Pine Beach, New Jersey called the 'Admiral Farragut Academy'. Copiously illustrated throughout. Collated, complete with eight illustrated charts, seven of which are folding.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, lightly rubbed. Slight bumping to extremities and head and tail of spine. Handling marks to boards. Slight fading to spine. Front hinge strained after half title page, but still relatively firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to front pastedown. Internally generally firmly bound, slightly strained in places. Pages slightly age toned to edges but bright and clean throughout. Highlighting by prior owner, only to pages viii, 10, 33and 895. Small ink mark to 'Introduction', not affecting text. Large closed tear to page 803/4. Light scattered spotting to gutter of folding plate facing page 50.
