With the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper.

This novel, which is the author's only about the American sailing navy, describes the exploits of a typical U.S. frigate cruising at sea during the War of 1812.

C. S. Forester (Cecil Louis Troughton Smith) was an English novelist widely renowned for his tales of naval warfare such as this. His best known work is the twelve-book 'Horatio Hornblower' series set during the Napoleonic Wars.

Condition

In the original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with shelf wear to the spine head and tail. Book Society bookplate signed by one 'R Southey' to the front pastedown. Dust wrapper is chipped to the spine head, with a small closed tear to the front panel. Handling marks to the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with scattered spotting to the endpapers only.
