This ornithological work was written by Hugh Whistler, an English police officer and ornithologist who worked in India. Whistler wrote one of the earliest field guides to Indian birds and regularly published in the 'Bombay Natural History Society' journal. The work provides a comprehensive study of Indian birds, describing their physical qualities alongside breeding patterns, locations and much more.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth with the original clipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart with fading and minimal small closed tears to the head and tail of the spine, minor marks to the boards, bumping and wear to the extremities and a rear joint starting to the tail. Front hinge tender and rear hinge starting after pp. 528. The wrap is sound with loss to the head and tail of the spine, creasing, sunning to the spine, small closed tears to the extremities and slight marks. Tape repairs to the verso. Internally firmly bound with generally bright and clean pages with the odd spot, heavier to the front blanks.
