A stapled report detailing events during the May Blitz of 1941.
Written by the Chief Officer of the Central Fire Department in the Liverpool area, reporting to the Chief Constable.
Taking place between the 1st and the 7th of May, 1941, this aerial bombardment was the most concentrated series of attacks on any British city outside of London during the Second World War. It became known as The May Blitz, causing widespread destruction, loss of life and fire damage to properties, as is outlined in this report.
The subject of this report is labelled 'Fires Caused by Hostile Action', with the Chief Officer presenting his experiences of the week, including the amount of fires visited, the buildings and businesses affected, the damage sustained and, when known, the amount of lives lost.
Places mentioned include Bolton, Stockport, Preston, Warrington, St. Helens and Manchester.

Condition
A stapled report of 11 pages, with the original brown envelope. Externally, very good, with light spotting to the wraps and the odd mark. Staples rusting a little. Pages are bright and generally clean, with light scattered spotting, mainly to the first and last few pages. Envelope is torn open to the head, with edge wear, a stamp, label remnants and an ink annotation.
