A scarce piece of wartime history. 

This children's book was written by Enid Marx, an English designer and artist known for her industrial textile designs. This children's story, written during the height of WWII, tells the story of a barrage balloon called Bulgy as he goes about his duties to protect civilians against air attacks. The book was published to educate children about warfare, airstrikes and how barrage balloons were  used to defend against aircraft attacks by blocking their approach with steel cables. 

In the publisher's original pictorial limp cardboard covers.

Condition

In the publisher's original pictorial limp cardboard covers. Externally, slight creasing to the boards, very minor marks, closed tears to the spine, and minimal loss to the tail of the front board. Owner's gift inscription to the title page.
