Illustrated throughout by American artist John de Martelly (1903–1979).
William E. Wilson (1906–1988) was an American author, as well as a professor of fiction writing and literature at Indiana University.
This historical work, which he is best remembered for, is from his 'Rivers of America' series. Against the background of the Wabash River and Valley, Wilson recounts the stories of LaSalle, George Rogers Clark, George Rapp, Robert Owen, and many more who made their mark on Indiana, the author's birthplace.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original price-clipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is generally smart and bright, with a little fading to the spine and to the upper extremities of the boards. Hinges are starting but remain firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Dust wrapper remains bright and generally smart, except for shelf wear to the folds and minor chipping to the spine and folds.
