First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

First published the year prior by Chapman & Hall, this is the second edition of this work, published by the Catholic Book Club, and with a new dust wrapper.

Waugh offers a critical study of the socialist and anti-clerical leanings of the Mexican government in the 1930s.

Throughout, Waugh reflects his own conservative and Roman Catholic beliefs, themes which he often analysed in his works of literature, such as 'Brideshead Revisited', and 'A Handful of Dust'.
