A limited first edition, being one of 750 copies printed for sale in Great Britain. 

The author's presentation copy, signed and inscribed by the author to the front free endpaper to Ambrose Heal; "To Ambrose Heal, from the author". Ambrose Heal was a furniture designer who is best known for being the Chairman of the popular furniture store 'Heal's' (Heal and Son). 

Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, monochrome plates and vignettes, and eight coloured plates. Collated, complete. 

A detailed study of English furniture and clocks by Robert Wemyss Symonds, a British architect and expert on English furniture. The work covers the history of furniture and clockmaking, focusing on the seventeenth and eighteenth century, and covering the clocks of Thomas Tompion, Oriental lacquer furniture, chair making, and more.

In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally excellent with bumping to the extremities to the head of the boards. The odd spot to the endpapers with author's signature to the front free endpaper. The wrap is sunned with closed tears to the spine with loss to the tail, and small closed tears and chips to the extremities. Internally firmly bound with clean and bright pages.
