1940-41 If the Invader Comes, and, Beating the Invader
What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding
The first edition.
Two leaflets issued during the Second World War, rallying cries by Churchill to the British public during a dark period in the war.
'If the Invader Comes', was issued in June 1940, and issues advice on the possible invasion of Britain by Germany, during the same month of Dunkirk.
'Beating the Invader' was issued in May 1941, over fourteen million copies being printed and issues across the country. The leaflet urges the public that if the country is invaded, then they should "stand firm" and "carry on", and "give all the help you can to our troops. Do not tell the enemy anything. Do not give him anything. Do not help him in any way".
Two brilliant pieces of ephemera from the War, rallying messages from the Prime Minister to his public.
