'Little Gidding', the first edition, first impression, published in 1942.
The Four Quartets are interlinked meditations on man's relationship with time, the universe, and the divine, written during the Second World War.
Condition
First editions in the publisher's original paper wraps. Externally, smart. Slight marginal age toning and discolouration to front and rear wraps. The odd handling mark and chip. Slight creasing to wraps, and the odd closed tear to 'The Dry Salvages' and 'Little Gidding'. Internally, firmly bound. Spotting and age toning to pages of two earliest works, 'East Coker' and 'Burnt Norton.' Pages 14 and 15 of 'Burnt Norton' unopened. Contemporary inscriptions to top right front free endpaper in 'East Coker' and 'Little Gidding'.
