Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

The first edition of this work.

With the publisher's original clipped dust wrapper.

A charmingly written record of English village life, being a collaborative work by Heather and Robin Tanner.

The volume is a thinly disguised description of the village and countryside surrounding the Tanner's home, located in the Wiltshire village of Kington Langley. It celebrates traditional rural crafts and community and is underpinned by a rejection of militarism and blood sports.

Heather's writings are decorated with Robin's beautiful etchings and pen drawings.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. With the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart, with mild shelf wear and a couple small white marks to the front board. Dust wrapper is chipped to the spine head and tail, with a few small closed tears running along the wrap's edges. Both of these faults have had amateur archival repairs to look smarter. Sunning and a few spots to the spine and handling marks to the rear panel. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with a few scattered spots, most concentrated to the first and last few leaves. Ex libris bookplate to the half title page.
