A wonderful celebration of the dog illustrations of British artist Cecil Aldin, known for his paintings and sketches of animals, sports, and rural life, and most particularly for his illustrations of dogs.
In this work, Aldin's illustrations are accompanied by short stories and verses by Patrick R. Chalmers.
Illustrated with a frontispiece and twenty-three plates by Aldin, and with further vignette illustrations. Collated, complete.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. Bumping to back strip head and tail, otherwise externally excellent. Light spotting to text block fore edge. Chipping to dust wrapper spine tail, with three small closed tears to back strip head. Restorations running the length of the dust wrapper head, and to the back strip tail. Small loss to head of rear wrap. Handling marks to rear wrap. Wraps and back strip reinforced with paper to reverse. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
