The programme for a state performance of Tchaikovsky's 'The Sleeping Princess', performed at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, on the 22nd March 1939.
This performance was given by command of the King, George VI, in honour the visit of the President of the French Republic, Albert Lebrun, and his wife, Marguerite Lebrun. The role of Aurora was played by Margot Fonteyn, only a few years after her solo debut in 1935.
Condition
In the original publisher's paper wraps. Externally, generally smart, with some spots and handling marks to the wraps. Tassels are a little worn. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
