Exploring the simple methods of making use of the millions of roses wasted every year on the British Isles, being a charming collection of recipes utilising rose petals from the garden. Including the making of pot-pourri, sweet bags, pomanders, perfume, sweet waters, conserves, jams, syrups, and other confections. Written by Eleanour Sophie Sinclair Rohde, a British gardener, garden designer, and horticultural writer who authored thirty books on gardening between 1913 and 1948. She is best known for her book The Scented Garden, published in 1931. Illustrated by Helen Babette Kapp, a British artist, originally a painter and illustrator, who became a curator and gallery director of some influence.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light rubbing to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also smart with light wear to the extremities and the odd small mark. Minor chipping to the extremities with sympathetic reinforcements made with tape. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the extremities.
