What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Folding Maps, Illustrated, Leather Binding, Very Scarce

A very scarce first edition.

Illustrated with one folding map, and four loosely inserted colour folding maps in a pocket to the rear. Collated, complete.

These maps to the rear demonstrate: population; agriculture, cattle distribution and Tsetse fly and sleeping sickness areas; mining and industrial centres, and distribution of tribes and native lands.

The 1939 Rhodesia-Nyasaland Royal Commission, commonly known as the Bledisloe Commission, was established to examine the feasibility of a closer union among the British Central African territories of Southern Rhodesia, Northern Rhodesia, and Nyasaland.

With the bookplate of the Nottingham Reference Library to the front pastedown.

The Commission's recommendations were not implemented at the time due to the outbreak of the Second World War. However, the idea of federation resurfaced post-war, culminating in the formation of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland in 1953.
