In the publisher's original quarter cloth with the original, very scarce, dust wrapper. 

Illustrated with a monochrome photographic frontispiece, thirty-three monochrome photographic plates, and a folding colour map. Collated, complete. 

This work on the history of India was edited by Sir John Cumming and covers the story of the archaeological department in India. The work also covers topics such as the conservation projects involving Buddhist, Hindu and Islamic monuments, the excavation of prehistoric civilisations, and the archaeological exploration of Indian Tibet and central Asia, and much more.

Condition

In the original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally excellent with only minor bumping to the front board and extremities. Light spotting to the endpapers, with owner's inscription to the front. The wrap is smart with sunning to the spine, owner's signature to the front, and closed tears and chipping to the head of the spine. Internally firmly bound with clean and bright pages. Spotting to fore edge.
