First published in English in 1937.

Smartly bound in half morocco with cloth boards, with a stamp of Hofer & Kramer. With the original paper wraps bound in.

A collection of twenty-five short biographical essays about influential figures, including George Bernard Shaw, Lawrence of Arabia, H. H. Asquith, Clemenceau, Douglas Haig, George V, and controversially, Adolf Hitler. 

Written by Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill, a British statesman, military officer and writer who twice served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

With a bookplate loosely inserted stating the book was part of the collection of Steve Forbes, an American publishing executive and politician, known for being the editor-in-chief of Forbes Magazine.

Condition

Smartly bound in half morocco with cloth boards, with a stamp of Hofer & Kramer to the front endpaper. Original paper wraps bound in. Externally, excellent, with light rubbing to the joints. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age toned, and clean throughout.
