What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Illustrated, Uncommon, With Dustwrapper
The first edition, first impression of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the very scarce original unclipped dust wrapper.
Published in the U.S. as 'St. George and the Witches'.
A dramatised adventure of St. George, written by J. W. Dunne to read for his children at bedtime. This is an enchanting fairy tale, an amusing fantasy in which St. George faces the antagonism of witches (including Circe), rather than dragons.
Illustrated with a frontispiece and twenty-eight in-text illustrations by F. Rojankovsky. Collated, complete.
J. W. Dunne is better known now for his 1927 work 'An Experiment With Time', in which he theorised on the nature of time and consciousness. He was also a pioneering aeroplane designer.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart, with light fading to the upper extremities of the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with the odd spot to the fore edge, affecting the occasional page. Dust wrapper is smart but somewhat sunned, more so to the spine. Chipped to the head and tail of the spine, with small closed tears to the joints. A couple of small marks to the rear of the wrap.
