What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding

The first edition in the publisher's original cloth with Chinese characters, with the original unclipped very rare dust wrapper.

With thirteen plates, including two colour. Collated, complete. Pages 125-140 missing.

Immersing himself in the strange rituals of London life, Chiang Yee sets out to learn about Londoners, their habits and their pleasures. This is a rare perspective from an artist and unwitting expat Chiang Yee (1903-1977), who called himself the ‘Silent Traveller.’ Yee was a poet and author who left China to study economics and administration at the London School of Economics, before the war caused him to remain in England.
