With the publisher's very scarce unclipped dust wrapper.

This historical novel is set before and during the Civil War at the Missouri-Kansas border, centring on the love story of one woman and the subsequent conflict of two men. The work was adapted into a 1940 western film of the same name, starring John Wayne, Claire Trevor and Walter Pidgeon.

Written by W. R. Burnett, best known for the crime novel Little Caesar, the film adaptation of which is considered the first of the classic American gangster movies. 

Condition

In the original cloth binding. With the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with minor rubbing to the extremities. Ink impression for 'The Griffon Book Nook' to the front pastedown. Dust wrapper is smart, with edge wear and light chipping to the spine head and tail. With a couple small closed tears to the joints and a few marks to the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. With bright and generally clean pages, with the very odd spot.
