Illustrated with a frontispiece and fourteen plates. Collated complete. The official catalogue of the Rufford Collection of Rufford Abbey, a country estate in Rufford, Nottinghamshire, England, granted to George Talbot, 4th Earl of Shrewsbury and later passed on to Sir George Savile, 2nd Baronet of Thornhill. Including the treasures acquired by the ancestors of the Savile family during three centuries. Sir William Savile, 3rd Baronet, George's successor, made Rufford Abbey the seat of the Savile family after he burnt down the Saviles' original home to prevent its being occupied by a Parliamentarian garrison during the Civil War. These items were to be sold on Tuesday 11th October and Saturday 22nd October 1938 by Knight, Frank & Rutley in conjunction with Christie, Manson, & Woods. With viewings on the 7th and 8th of October.
Condition
In the original card wraps. Externally, sound with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Light sunning to the extremities with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting throughout.
