Written by John S. McClintock, an early American pioneer who arrived in the Wild West town of Deadwood in 1876, ready to make his fortune. McClintock went on to become a well-known member of the community, starting a business and a family, and writing this book on his experiences during the gold rush in this town.

With chapters on early gold-seekers, the bullwhackers and local figures including Calamity Jane and Wild Bill, amongst many more. 

With a number of photographic depictions of the town, including a frontispice of John S. McClintock.

Condition

In the publisher's original red cloth binding. Externally, smart, with light bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine, with the odd mark. Slight wear to the cloth at the head of the spine. Age toning to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
