One W. H Auden and Christopher Isherwood's plays written in collaboration. The first US edition, preceded by the true first UK edition of the same year. A melodrama in three acts telling the story of the outbreak of the war between the fictional European countries of Ostnia and Westland.
Written in prose and verse, it is considered the successor to The Ascent of F6.
The play was produces in October 1938 at the Cambridge Arts Theatre.

In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely with minor shelf wear only. Dust wrapper unclipped with shelf wear, chipped to extremities, closed tear along front joint, front wrap may detach with further handling, some age toning as usual. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
