This volume provides a historical account of the London and Birmingham Railway (L&BR), which first opened its line from Euston in 1837 and fully connected to Birmingham by 1838. Engineered by Robert Stephenson, the L&BR’s London terminus was Euston Station, marking Britain's first intercity railway into London.
Alongside in-text illustrations, this edition features six plates, two of which are in colour, including the frontispiece. It also features one fold-out illustration of the ground plan of Euston Station. Collated, complete.

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Scattered spotting to cloth. Slight rubbing and fading to extremities. Dust wrapper, smart. Tape repairs to extremities. Slight soiling to wraps. One or two small closed tears and chips. Slight loss at head and tail of spine. One or two handling marks. Slight age toning to spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot, heavier to first and last few leaves and fore edge.
