    Further revised edition, originally published in 1920. With six traditional English recipes, handwritten in pencil, to the front endpapers. These recipes include: Victoria Sandwich, Apple Chutney, Tomato Store Sauce, Almond Paste, Mock Whipped Cream, and Mincemeat for Christmas Mince Pies. With ingredients listed in lb and oz, and simple step-by-step instructions. This charming recipe book provides a study of simple recipes taught to the exacting standards of the Gloucester methods. With examples of recipes from beef and rice stew and chicken cream to marmalade pudding. Written by Winifred R. Griffiths Francillon, an English cookbook author and G.T.C.D.S., the Gloucester Training College of Domestic Science who often published cookery books.

    Condition

    In the original full cloth binding. Externally, sound with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and board edges with the odd small mark. Small splits in the cloth to the head of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Contemporary pencil inscriptions to the front endpapers. With previous owner's bookplate to the front endpaper and the bookseller's label to the rear pastedown.
