Bound in the publisher's bright blue cloth, with the original, unclipped and vanishingly scarce dust wrappers.

Three volumes of 'The Naval Annual', providing extensive information on British and other nations' naval developments from 1938 to 1940, covering the first two years of the Second World War. This periodical was started by Thomas Brassey, 1st Earl Brassey, in 1886, and was notable for its detailed articles on naval matters, written by experts.

Edited by Rear-Admiral H. G. Thursfield.

Illustrated throughout with photographs, warship plans and silhouettes, including a pictorial section to the rear of each work, containing 121 silhouettes to the 1938 volume, 126 to the 1939 volume and 127 to the 1940 volume.

With original advertisements to each volume, including illustrations for companies including 'Harland Wolff' warship constructors, 'Short Bros' plane manufacturers, 'Hadfield's' steel production, and much more.

Including xv pages of advertisements to the 1938 volume, xiii pages to the 1939 volume, and xviii to the 1940 volume.

Condition

Bound in the publisher's cloth, with the original, unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, excellent, with the odd mark and minor shelf wear. A few spots to the fore edges, heavier to 1938 volume. Dust wrappers are also very smart, with light edge wear and a little chipping to spine head and tail. Sunning to the wrap extremities, heavier to the spines, which have darkened. A few marks to wraps, with a few spots to the 1938 volume. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with just the odd mark.
