Bookplate of Henry Frederick, 6th Marquess of Bath, to the verso of the front endpaper, with a hand-written note listing children's games to a Longleat headed piece of paper. Henry Frederick Thynne was a landowner and Conservative politician, and, in his youth, a Bright Young Thing. It was he who developed the safari park at his ancestral estate, Longleat.
Condition
In the original publisher's paper covered boards, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Spots to the boards, heavier to the rear board. Very light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Bookplate to the verso of the front endpaper. Dust wrapper is a little edge worn with some spots, including spots to the reverse, and a small closed tear to the tail of the front wrap. Spine is age-toned. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots to the first and last few pages.
