What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

The first Penguin edition.

In the original unclipped dust wrapper.

'Ghost Stories of an Antiquary' was James' first collection of macabre stories, and is considered as being the "the beginning of the modern era of supernatural fiction".

The eight stories in this anthology are notable for James' abandonment of the usual formal Gothic cliches often found in ghost stories, and redefining the genre.

Including 'Canon Alberic's Scrap-Book', 'Lost Hearts', 'The Mezzotint', 'The Ash-Tree', 'Number 13', 'Count Magnus', 'Oh, Whistle and I'll Come to You, My Lad', and 'The Treasure of Abbot Thomas'.
