The first edition, first impression, in the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper. With a large original sketch of a horse and rider from Seago to the front free endpaper, accompanied by the inscription ‘To Colonel Tomlinson from Ted, May 1937’. In this work, English artist Edward Seago offers sketches of gipsy, fairground and circus life, based on his own observations. With a frontispiece and full page illustrations throughout. With the former owner’s inscription of S G Porter, 1963, to the front pastedown. Signed works from Seago are scarce.
Condition
In the publisher’s original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent. Inscription and illustration to front free endpaper, with further inscription to front pastedown. Dust wrapper back strip age toned, with handling marks to wraps. Closed tear to rear wrap head. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
