Set in the Lincolnshire Fens, the novel follows a group of bell-ringers at the local parish church. Widely considered her best work and finest literary achievement, the novel has received minor criticism regarding inaccurate campanology details. This is the ninth novel to feature Lord Peter Wimsey.

Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with marks to the cloth. A few small scattered tidemarks to the rear board. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age-toned and clean.
