Written by John Edward Bernard Seely, 1st Baron Mottistone also known as Jack Seely, a British army general and politician. 

Seely was a great friend of Winston Churchill only former cabinet minister to go to the front in 1914 and still be there four years later.

At the beginning of the work, Seely reveals he will 'attempt to show the essential nobility of the English character', with chapters on topics such as rural England, fishermen, miners, London, the Englishman abroad, and many more.

Condition

In full calf. Externally, excellent. Light shelf wear to head and tail of the spine. Slight fading to top of boards and spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
