The first edition of this work.

A fascinating study of Chinese Jade and it's development throughout the course of history, with a special look at it's character, decoration, and symbolism.

Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, thirty-eight colour plates, one-hundred and ten monochrome plates, and in-text illustrations.

Collated, complete.

Written by Stanley Charles Nott.

With an introduction by Sir Cecil Harcourt-Smith.

Letter loosely inserted, 'Robert R. Edgar Esq, 28.9.44, Dear Sir, I am very sorry I allowed you to go without the book on Jade. I will end it to the works on Monday next, as no doubt you are very busy. Do you like Swansea and Nantgarw Porcelain? I have a very fine Sucrier, mounted in fine Ormolu. Thanking you for past favours and assuring you of my best attention at all times, I remain, Yous very faithfully, Frederick Allen.' Allen had a period Chinese antiques and fine art shop on 186 Broad Street in Birmingham.

Without the original dustwrapper.
