First impression in the Keystone Library, 1935. Originally published 1934. Author's presentation copy, signed by the author to the title page dated September 1935, with the author's inscription to the front endpaper dated March 1947. Scarce edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece, twenty-five images across fifteen plates, and four maps, one of which is folding. Collated complete. A detailed account of the author's travels across India, with chapters on Calcutta, Bilaspur, jungle jaunts, the wild animals, Bhojudih, diamonds, and the Khurda Road. Written by John W. Mitchell.
Condition
In the original full blue cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine and the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting predominantly to the first and last few pages. Age toning to the endpapers. Keystone Library bookplates to the pastedowns.
