A detective novel written by American art critic, Willard Huntington Wright, who wrote under the pseudonym S. S. Van Dine. This novel formed part of the author's "Philo Vance" series, comprised of twelve crime novels featuring the fictional amateur detective, Philo Vance.
'The Garden Murder Case' was the ninth novel in this series, with this particular mystery surrounding a murder within a group of socialites, taking place as they gather at a New York penthouse to listen to the outcome of the latest horse race.
With eight leaves of advertisements presenting other Van Dine novels.
Condition
Bound in the publisher's cloth, in the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with light rubbing to the spine head and tail. Dust wrapper is sound, with creasing, edge wear and light chipping, heavier to the backstrip head and tail. Rubbing to the joints of the wrap, with the odd mark. Internally, firmly bound with bright, clean pages.
