The first edition, first state. With Scribner's 'A' to the verso of the title page.
With pages 349-352 uncancelled, and with the text unrevised. With page 350 lines 5-7 reading 'he need not base himself on the adding machine-calculating machine-probability machine-St. Francis of Assis machine any longer', and page 351 lines 29-30 reading "Oh, catch it-oh, catch it and take it-oh, catch it," she sighed.', as called for.
This was the fourth and final collection of short stories from F. Scott Fitzgerald, and was published after 'Tender is the Night'.
With eighteen stories in the collection, the final tale, 'Babylon Revisited', is one of Fitzgerald's most highly regarded.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with light fraying to back strip head. Instances of fading to front board perimeters. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned to perimeters, otherwise clean and bright.
