What Our Customers Say...
Description

The first edition, first impression.
Bound in the publisher's cloth, with the original, very scarce unclipped dust wrapper.
A fascinating historical novel surrounding the life of Cleopatra, one of the world's most renowned women. Butt's presents this legendary figure in an entirely new light, exemplifying her prowess as a ruler, who chose her lovers in a way that protected her kingdom, while also acknowledging the potential danger involved.
With this new insight, Butts aims to recover different misconceptions about Cleopatra put forward by historians of the past, in particular relating to her sexuality.
Written by English modernist author, Mary Butts, known for her contributions to literary magazines including 'The Bookman' and 'The Little Review', as well as for a number of novels, such as this one.
