Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and a small number of colour vignette illustrations from Oliver Messel, one of the foremost stage designers of the 20th century.

In a striking quarter morocco signed binding by David M. Kirby of Chester. Endpapers renewed.

With the bookplate of Martin and Pamela Finch to the verso of the  front free endpaper. They were antiquarian booksellers with an interest in antiquarian gastronomy.
