The first edition of this very scarce work.

Credited to Marie Edwards, who also provided the small vignette illustration to the title page. A fascinating guide designed to assist British women in colonial India with entertaining and meal planning, offering recipes and advice tailored to the Anglo-Indian household, adapting English recipes to accommodate for the 'food procurable in most Indian markets'. Including cocktail, game, fruit, and soup recipes.

With the numerous blank ruled leaves throughout - intended for note taking - all left blank. 

In the publisher's original cloth with a paper title label to the front board.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth with a paper title label to the front board. Externally very smart with light fading to the spine and extremities, slight loss and small closed tears to the head of the spine, and minimal worming to the boards. Owner's signature to the front free endpaper, worming to the rear. Internally firmly bound with clean and age toned pages.
