First edition of this scarce work. 

In the publisher's original quarter cloth, with illustrated boards. 

This charming children's book chronicles the mischievous adventures of Anatole, a unique piglet, and a group of animals including a duck, cat, rats, bears and chickens. 

Written and illustrated by Benjamin Rabier, who became famous for creating the logo for Laughing Cow Cheese and as one of the precursors of animal comics.

Condition

In the publisher's original quarter cloth, with illustrated boards. Externally, with marks to the boards and rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Staples have failed, with text block attached by spine only. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age toned, however generally clean, with heaviest scattered spotting to the first and last couple leaves. Contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper verso.
