This is a whimsical work by Robert Gibbings, a lighthearted romantic narrative set in the South Pacific, told with characteristic brevity and 23 engraving illustrations. Collated, complete.

Robert Gibbings (1889-1958) was a leading figure in the British wood engraving revival and a key member of the Golden Cockerel Press, where he contributed significantly as both artist and author.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding with pictorial paper boards. Externally, very smart. One or two slight handling marks to boards and spine. The odd slight spot to paper boards. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. Slight rubbing to boards. Spine and extremities slightly faded. Offsetting with the odd small spot to endpapers. Bookplate from Matthew Havard Thomas to front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with one or two spots to fore edge.
