This work contains letters and diaries originally belonging to Martha and Catherine Wilmot. They vividly account the Irish women's experience as guests of Princess Daschkaw, a major figure of the Russian Enlightenment.
The letters depict their excursions, meetings and observations of court life and Russian high society.
Edited and with an introduction by Edith Helen Vane-Tempest-Stewart, Marchioness of Londonderry, who was a noted and influential society hostess in the United Kingdom between the two World Wars.
