In the original very scarce unclipped dust wrapper.
This volume collects together six retellings of tales from Shakespeare by leading literary figures of the day. These include 'King Lear' by Hugh Walpole, 'Julius Caesar' by Winston Churchill, 'The Merchant of Venice' by Viscount Snowden, 'Coriolanus' by John Buchan, 'Hamlet' by Francis Brett Young, 'The Taming of the Shrew' by Clemence Dance.
Illustrated with a frontispiece, and seven plates, by Fortunino Matania. Collated, complete.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Spine is faded. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. A few light marks and spots to the boards. Spots to the fore edge and endpapers. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Dust wrapper is smart, with repairs to the reverse, and a small amount of restoration. Light spots and handling marks to the wraps. Small closed tear to the head of the rear wrap. Spine is a little age-toned. Spots to the reverse. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots.
