This is a marvellously illustrated Christian children's book, which features an Alphabetised Retelling of the Life of Jesus Christ, short stories of the saints, a Grace, a Morning Prayer, an Evening Prayer, The Lord's Prayer, and a Blessing. John Stirling, or John Featherstone, served as Assistant Literary Superintendent and Librarian to The British and Foreign Bible Society, and collaborated with Horace J. Knowles on multiple works, including what would later become known as the 'Stirling Bible'.
Condition
In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally, sound with some staining and the odd mark to the boards. Slight bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of the spine, resulting in fractional loss of cloth in the latter's case. Internally, generally firmly bound with pages bright and clean barring light age toning, the odd minor handling mark, and some light spotting, heaviest to the endpapers.
